Closet Remix – Fourth of July Outfit Inspo
As I sat down to find some outfits to shoot for the Fourth of July, I realised it’s not something I even usually think about every year.
See, my dogs are terrified of the noise of fireworks (as are many dogs) so I spend the day inside participating in exactly zero festivities and, instead, snuggling my dogs and reminding them they’re alright. If you, too, have a scardey pup, I highly recommend this article by Christine at Rescue in Style on how to manage the worst holiday for animal lovers. It’s a great list to help you get ready for the craziness that will be tomorrow. And, if you’re not a pet parent, will hopefully put into perspective how the day goes for us.
Insert friendly reminder here that combat veterans, especially those with PTSD, are also going to be having a rough day. So check in on any friends and family you might have, and please think before setting off loud fireworks. Is your few seconds of enjoyment really worth risking someone else’s overall well-being? Probs not.
But I digress…
So I went to find some pieces form my closet to share and realised I have next to nothing to showcase. I was going to share some amazing embroidered shorts I’d found at Old Navy then as I put them on to go shoot, they ripped in two places! I’m not about to share something like that with you! So we did a little closet remix to find something that worked. And, lo and behold, I found this top in Ari’s closet! It used to be mine but I decided I didn’t like it anymore. I gave it to her and then she decided she didn’t want to wear it anymore. So it sat untouched for over a year. But it’s definitely patriotic looking so I grabbed it. And it fits better now than it used to! Pair it with the skirt my friend Uriel hand cut for me for NYFW last fall and BOOM stellar look that counts for the 4th but also is just cute any time of year.
Closet Remixes are my fave because it’s a great way to give old pieces some love while still rocking some amazing looks. But it also makes finding matches for you to shop a lot harder. So my Fourth of July Outfit Inspo is instead just pieces I’d love to have in my closet. The first two dresses linked in the widget below are at the top of my wishlist right now! I’m obsessed with the Gal Meets Glam line right now and we all know I’m super into wrap dresses. I’d definitely happily accept either of those into my closet!
I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe Fourth of July.
