My Look for the Chicago Pride Parade 2018
Happy Day After Pride, friends!
If you celebrated yesterday, I hope you had a truly wonderful time. Do yourself a favor and grab a large glass of water. Don’t worry, I’ll wait.
This was my first year going to the Pride parade and I had a BLAST. We had a group of friends over beforehand for some pregaming and glitter makeuping. We had our truest gaggle and it was amazing. So definitely a great start to my first Pride parade.
From our place we walked to the parade route and laid claim to a spot that happened to be near a CTA cooling bus. Talk about perfect for this overheater.

Let the Pride Parade Begin
Okay, so after a while all parades tend to look the same to me. From small town Memorial Day parades to this amazing Pride Parade, groups of people partying and throwing stuff at me all looks the same. If I’m being truly honest, it’s way more fun to be in a parade than to watch one. But that’s just me. Regardless, seeing groups like Dykes on Bikes, Obama, and my old choir, Windy City Performing Arts, was quite enjoyable. Until the sun and heat got to me and it was onto the bus! This femme tries to be hearty but, let’s be real, I can handle cold better than heat. So we sat in the bus for a while and enjoyed watching the floats go past.
THE SUNBURN! OH GOD THE SUNBURN! In all my infnite wisdom, I 100% forgot sunscreen. So as I type this, I’m super duper lobster roasting. Oops. Here’s hoping the week cools down!
But reeling in the post-Pride high is so great. Seeing so many people coming together in the name of love and support has been a truly wonderful experience. Being with my wife and so many other amazing people I love, all together for some honest to goodness love was the BEST.
I hope everyone had as wonderful of a time as me. And I hope you’ll join me in raising a glass (of water. We talked about this already!) to love and the power of being oneself. Cheers, friends.
