A Rose by Any Other Name
The Rose is without an explanation; She blooms because She blooms.
– Angelus Silesius, German Poet
Okay, so I know July started several days ago but I’ve always felt like July doesn’t really begin until we celebrate Independence Day and then take a day to recover from that. The first three days of July are entirely devoted to prep for the 4th, then we stay up way too late and enjoy fireworks and backyard barbeques. By the time the 5th rolls around, we’re all recovering — going back to work, getting through an inevitable mountain of email, cleaning up from the night before, or whatever else your celebration may bring.
Hopefully everyone had an excellent holiday and the return to work and emails was smooth! I spent mine on the Hollywood Gay Beach here in Chicago with some awesome friends just enjoying the day. As with all fireworks-centric holidays now, the evening turned into snuggling little Zoe and reminding her that the world as she knows it is, in fact, not ending. She still doesn’t believe me but I’ll take whatever puppy snuggles I can get. Anyone have favorite tips to help calm scared pups?
As with every other blogger and femme alive, I’ve been obsessed with rose shades. From rose gold jewelry to rose wine, and this rose colored dress, that soft pink we’ve all fallen in love with is my go-to. My phone is rose gold. Even my nails are covered in it. Heck, I’m even seriously considering coloring my bleached hair a soft pink.
But in the meantime, I’m just enjoying this gorgeous lace dress. On trend with the cold shoulder, it is perfectly feminine, and exactly the dress I needed for summer. I can’t wait to have an event to wear this to! Though something tells me there will be the perfect opportunity coming up soon.
