Wine + Friends | The Best Ways to Enjoy Wine in Chicago
Since the two pups featured in these photos have already been adopted, I’d been waiting for some sort of opportunity to present itself to share these shots. So before we get into the meat of this post, let’s give Stanley [the brindle pup pictured above] and Amit [the big tan dog] a little cheer for finding their forever homes!
And now… onto the wine
You’re probably wondering what puppies and wine have in common. But if you know me, then you know that both of those things cross paths all the time in my life. In this case, we’re looking for some awesome ways to clink glasses and celebrate my girl Christine of The Rescue Runway on getting this awesome feature in the Chicago Tribune. This girl is rocking sharing adoptables across the city and now she’s getting the recognition she deserves! To celebrate, I’m sharing some of my favorite wine events and spaces around the city that you can enjoy for your own wine-worthy celebrations.
Eataly’s Summer Sippers Wine Festival
We all know how amazing Eataly is at this point. Add in a wine festival and you know this is going to be an amazing night. As a guest, you can sip on more than 20 Italian Wines. Which sounds like an amazing event! Tickets to this event are $55 but I’ve got an awesome offer for you. Head over to this awesome offer on Gilt City and get your tickets for $39 each! That includes red, white, sparkling, orange, and rosé wines as well as an assorted chef’s selection of cured meats, cheeses, and Italian antipasti. Oh, and you get to take home an Eataly wine glass. Yep, you get all of that for more than $15 off of the original price of a ticket.
This event is taking place July 7 and 8 with two time slots each night. Choose from 5-7pm or 7-9pm and enjoy so many wonderful wines!
City Winery Tours and Tastings
Looking to keep your wine sipping a little more local? City Winery is Chicago’s first and only fully operational winery. Located in the West Loop, they offer daily tastings and tours. Booking a behind-the-scenes tour includes a tasting of wines not available to the public, a sample of City Winery-made wine upon arrival, a tour of the facility, and a tasting flight. Talk about an amazing day out! Tickets are $50/person and can be booked from this link. I’ve got one booked for later in the summer and I’m so excited.
Independent Spirits, Inc.
Maybe you want to just pick up a great bottle of wine and go have some more private celebrations. But how can you pick when there are so many great types of wine? Head to Independent Spirits in Edgewater where their expert staff will help you. Wines are organized by region and, with the help of a handy dandy laser pointer, they’re happy to help you find exactly what you’re looking for and even give you some information on the region from there your bottle came from! Talk about excellent service.
Extra points to this shop, they’re dog friendly and often have their own pup, Roscoe, available for treats and pets. He and Zoe are buddies at this point. I’ve been visiting here since this blog was but a wee baby.
Lush Wine & Spirits
But what if you want some mix of both a wine night out with some bites and the casual atmosphere of a wine shop? Cue Lush Wine and Spirits, who you’ve seen on here before with ShopBuzzed. With three locations and free wine tastings on Sundays, you can’t go wrong. Pick from a bunch of amazing wines, take some more bottles home, and have a bite while you’re there! This shop is absolutely wonderful and the very atmosphere I’m looking for some days.
There you have it! Some awesome places to celebrate with a glass of wine around the city. Let’s all raise a glass to Christine, the rescue dogs of Chicago, and some amazing spots to toast any occasion you can think of. I do hope to see some of you at the Eataly Summer Sippers Wine Festival!
