Happy New Year!

Almost. I’m back to talk about breaking those stupid “rules” us plus-size women have been held to for so many years. We’re beautiful and we know it (though sometimes it’s hard) and we’re gonna wear what we want!

We’re told not to wear form-fitting clothes, but who cares if you can see my tummy in this, you can also see my waist and my boobs and that’s good enough for me. I like my body (most days) and I want to show it off! Let me!

Next, we’re told not to wear short skirts or shorts. Like our legs are going to blind people. Well, mine might but that’s just because I’m so pale I’m reflective. Our legs are beautiful because they’re ours. They’re strong and curvy and will kick you if you tell us to hide them again.

And of course, we’re told to wear black. Black is slimming, they tell us. Well, so is a well tailored outfit. Nothing against those who love to wear black, it’s a great aesthetic, but we should have options! As for me, I love bright colors. I don’t always wear them but when I do, I make a STATEMENT.

Enter this romper. Dress. Thing.

It’s from Forever 21 Plus and it’s all one piece. The shorts of the romper are shorter than I’d normally be comfy in because I hate chub rub but with a bit of anti-chafe and the high-low skirt it is a perfect outfit. Plus it makes me feel like a movie star the way it billows when I walk.

I borrowed a pair of Dannie’s shoes for this look, because I have exactly one pair of heels and they’re plain black. I wanted a statement all the way down. So… leopard it is! The necklaces in this house once belonged to only one of us but they switch back and forth so much I’m never quite sure which is whose.

So a little shout out to my fat femmes everywhere this New Year’s Eve. If you wanna go glam, do it! Don’t let those pesky rules get you down. Wear your sequin bodycon dress. Wear your glitter pumps. Show everyone that you’re here to slay this year. And tell the world to leave their rules in 2017 because it’s 2018 and we won’t have it.
