Chichen Itza & Cenote Ik Kil, Yucatan, Mexico
Our second morning in Mexico dawned similarly to the first one, woke up early (this time on purpose), drank some coffee, and grabbed breakfast. We were heading on an adventure today! An extra pastry in hand for good measure, we waited at the front of our resort for a bus to come pick us up for a day trip to Chichen Itza, one of the seven wonders of the world and a site that has been on my travel bucket list for a very long time.
The bus ride was long but we were almost instantly rewarded upon arriving. Rather than narrate our walk around the site, I’m just going to give you these photos. Enjoy the scroll!
We finished our tour of the site, our guide being an amazing storyteller the whole, and made our way back out of the heat to lunch, a local restaurant serving local food. I’m sad to say I didn’t get any pictures but I will say this: I had so many tacos. And they were so amazing that no other tacos will be as good ever again.
Back into the bus once again, this time to a nearby cenote, or sinkhole, to enjoy the scenery and go for what felt like the most refreshing swim I had ever taken. Once again, simply enjoy these photos.
This was easily the most beautiful place I have ever swam in my life. And that includes Lake Windermere
Back onto the bus one last time, we were handed beers and driven back to our resort, refreshed and ready to go snuggle into bed.
But of course, we were on vacation and that means staying up late and enjoying everything you possibly can. So there’s one more Mexico post!
