A few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to get to spend some time doing yoga with some fellow bloggers over at Lincoln Park Zoo at the Nature Boardwalk Peoples Gas Education Pavillion, that honeycomb structure just South of the Zoo. The class was taught by Rose Staszak of Centered by Design. She’s an interior designer and A+ yoga instructor. Go check her out!
Zoo Yoga, the Zen You Never Thought Of
We all laid out our mats and got ready for what was an amazing class. The weather was just perfect and the class was exactly what I needed to start my weekend.
The views of the city were ah-mazing. The pavillion is far enough from all sorts of traffic that road noise didn’t interrupt our practice. Being surrounded by nature in the middle of Chicago is a rarity but something I absolutely love doing. Having the pond around us, wild grasses and plants, and the skyline reminding us where we really were created this wonderfully relaxing space for the practice.
Yoga at the Zoo is a program that is offered regularly for all levels. Classes are offered Saturday and Sunday mornings as well as Wednesday evenings from June through September. I highly recommend checking out a class if you have the time! After all, zoo yoga is definitely a conversation started over brunch!
