Open House Chicago
Anyone who knows me knows I’m a bit of an architecture nerd. After spending time in London, I’m in a perpetual state of looking up, pointing my camera at buildings, and wanting to learn about the detail and history of those buildings. So imagine my excitement when I was available for this year’s Open House Chicago event! Spread out over a weekend, buildings not usually open to the public open up their doors and allow visitors to come in, take photos, and appreciate the often hidden beauty Chicago has to offer. Of 150 sites, we hit 10 places, most over the course of a single day.
The sites we visited included a defunct law library, the Fine Arts Building, places of worship, and Joffrey Tower. Needless to say, by the time we finished exploring, it was high time for some sitting, tea, and resting before we could even think about going home! We were bushed but super happy. This was a nice little reminder that while traveling and seeing everything the world has to offer is fun, it’s important to stop and explore your home first.
